Allen Elishewitz is an acclaimed young Canyon Lake, Texas, knifemaker who offers a surprising range of custom knives, many with Egyptian-themed names. We asked Allen to design a production version of his Anubis (the jackal-headed god of the underworld, according to ancient Egyptian mythology). Our new CRKT Anubis™ shows its lineage as an Elishewitz shape, with the benefits of advanced production technology. The blade shape is uniquely Allen’s, with a pronounced drop point, long spine and a high hollow grind, resulting in strength and cutting power. For superior edge retention, we use AUS 8 stainless steel in a non-reflective bead-blast finish. It is available in both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edge grinds. A gold-plated Elishewitz logo is inset into the stainless steel blade in the manner of custom knives.Teflon® and brass bearings at the blade pivot assure fast either-hand opening, using dual checkered thumb studs which also act as blade stops. The button lock gives absolute steel-on-steel lockup, resulting in the strongest lock possible. We have added a version of our patented* automatic safety, AutoLAWKS™, giving maximum security against accidental closing. To fold the knife, you must pull back the AutoLAWKS lever and press the button at the same time, making accidental release during vigorous use just about impossible. Allen’s design also features an unusual open build with a Zytel® spine back spacer that allows easy cleaning of the blade groove. Construction is stainless steel for the frame with injection-molded Zytel scales and an inset brushed stainless steel bolster at the butt. The handle perfectly fits the average adult hand. Dual reliefs at the finger choil aid grip, and make opening easier.Everything about the Anubis shouts strength. It has the rigidity, sure lockup and heft of folders costing twice as much, and we welcome comparison. Of course, in the CRKT tradition, both models come with a removable stainless steel clothing/gear clip, and all fasteners are Torx®. This is a sport and work knife that is built to be around for a long, long time. Who knows? Like Anubis, it may prove to be immortal. (?)

Option1: Plain Blade Partial Serrated Blade + $5.00
This knife is a button lock, featuring steel-on-steel lockup.  (MSRP:  $99.99)

Yes, yes, we know. Those of you who love to drool over Allen Elishewitz’s web site of exquisite custom knives have pointed out that our new production CRKT Pharaoh is very different from Allen’s custom Pharaoh. Sorry for any confusion, but this is a unique design that incorporates many of Allen’s themes, and we felt it was so special it deserved to be called “king.” You will look very hard to find a production knife in this price class that is anything like the Pharaoh, so it does stand a bit larger than life. First there is the unique blade grind, reminiscent of the traditional “long clip blade” of a century ago, with Allen’s own innovations. The tip is designed for penetraton, with a swedged top edge. But the center of the blade is recurved, with a high hollow grind, making it ideal for feeding material to the cutting edge— wood, cord, vegetation. The blade is AUS 8 premium stainless steel in a bead-blast finish. Both Razor-Sharp and Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edge grinds are available. The frame is about the strongest we can imagine, with dual stainless steel liners, brushed stainless steel bolsters, textured injection-molded Zytel® scales, and a solid Zytel back spacer at the spine. The Pharaoh is a button lock, featuring steel-on-steel lockup. In addition, we have added our patented* AutoLAWKS™ automatic safety, which engages when the blade is opened and locked. We believe this combination makes just about the strongest and most secure lockup possible in a folder. Dual checkered thumb studs allow fast either-hand-opening. To close the Pharaoh, you must pull back the AutoLAWKS lever with the finger while pressing the button lock. The chances that this folder can close accidentally are very minimal, if not absolutely zero. The Pharaoh uses Torx® fasteners throughout. A removable high-mounted custom stainless steel pocket/gear clip has a bead-blast finish.  Historically, the pharaohs were held in awe by all those around them. We think our Pharaoh is awesome, too. It might just be the most remarkable folder we have ever built.  (?)

Manual Action with "flipper"

Handles are 6061 T6 hard anodized aluminum, CNC machined with a perimeter radius for comfort. A stainless steel locking liner with friction grooves gives positive locking. We also incorporated the patented* Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS®) into all compact M16 models, which converts them into virtual fixed blades when engaged. AUS 8 stainless steel was chosen for blade steel, for its edge retention and durability. Both Razor-Sharp or Combined Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges are available.

All models feature the “Carson Flipper” extension to the blade, which aids opening and acts as an additional blade guard.

The M16-00 and 10 feature Tanto-style blades with dual hollow grinds. They offer maximum strength in a blade of this size.

The M16-01 and 11 have spear point blades with a false edge on the spine. It is a versatile ulitity blade for a variety of jobs.

One-hand opening and closing is as velvet smooth as larger M16s, the result of Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot. The ambidextrous thumb studs with checkered surface provide instant access in any circumstance.

PRESS RELEASE For immediate release. Contacts: Rod Bremer, Thea Schreiber, 1-800-891-3100 or 503-685-5015 Fax: 503-682-9680 E-mail: info@crkt.com Wilsonville, Oregon, U.S.A.— January 1, 2006 The CRKT Slide Sharp™ is a proven simple and economical knife sharpening system* that holds your blade at the correct angle to achieve a sharp edge quickly, every time. After many years in the knife industry, Steve McCowen of Iola, Wisconsin had seen literally hundreds of knife sharpening systems, ranging from stones to expensive electric hones. The simpler devices required a good deal of skill, the more advanced systems came with mounting hardware and pages of instructions, and the electric sharpeners could grind the edge of a favorite knife to nothing in a few seconds. Steve came up the idea for the Slide Sharp™ and contacted Charles Kain, a custom knifemaker in Indianapolis, Indiana. Together they developed the breakthrough, patentpending product you see here. The Slide Sharp uses a unique system of injection-molded nylon guides to hold the knife edge at the specific angle required for optimum sharpening. A hardwood base holds a porcelain sharpening rod. Simply insert the rod in the base, slide a return spring over it, select the sharpening guide needed for your knife, and slide on the cap. Sharpening action couldn’t be easier. Just pull your blade through a sharpening guide slot, pressing down lightly. The return spring pops the guide up again for the next stroke. You then repeat the same action as needed in the opposite slot, sharpening both sides of the blade equally, or as needed. Two sharpening guides are included. One is a slight angle for putting an edge on sport, work, tactical and kitchen knives. The second has a steeper angle for heavier tools such  as choppers and machetes. The Slide Sharp system comes with two porcelain sharpening rods. You start with the coarser gray rod, and finish the edge with the fine white rod. That’s the Slide Sharp story. It’s simple to use, quick and convenient. It is as easy to use as a butcher’s steel, with the accuracy of the more expensive and time-consuming  clamped sharpeners. The sharpening guides maintain the edge angle and do the work for you. There’s no guessing, no rounded edges, and no loss of blade shape from oversharpening. If you can sharpen a pencil, you can sharpen a knife. And Slide Sharp is inexpensive and portable, which means you can have one for the kitchen, one for the tool bench, one for your tackle box, even one for your favorite firearms case. Slide Sharp.
